Soap Making
What Is Cold Process Soap?
By Mou ·
Cold process soap is made the traditional way: by combining plant oils with lye and water, then letting the bars cure over several weeks.
The method, step by step
- Plant oils and butters are blended with lye and water to begin saponification.
- Essential oils and natural additives are incorporated at the right stage.
- The soap is poured into molds, then cut into bars.
- Bars are cured for weeks, allowing excess water to evaporate and the soap to mellow.
Why cold process?
- It preserves the nourishing glycerin naturally created during saponification.
- The long cure produces a mild, creamy lather.
- It lets us choose every oil, scent, and ingredient with intention.
The result is a gentle, long-lasting bar that feels good on skin and is made with care from start to finish.
